MATHCOUNTS is a National Math Contest where students compete individually and as a team. A total of 10 students from a school can participate, with four being on the official team and 6 as individuals. Each fall a qualifying exam is administered to those interested in participating. The top 25 students will be selected to participate in the school qualifying rounds. Just before Thanksgiving the top 25 will be narrowed down to the top 10 students that will represent Stoller at the Regional Contest in February.
The tournament will begin in January 2020. The team that wins the Stoller title will then move on to compete against other schools in the regional meet, which will take place on a Saturday in March (TBD).
The National Geographic GeoBee Preliminary Competition written exam will be given on Thursday, January 23rd from 4-5pm in the cafeteria (please note that students will need to make their own transportation arrangements for when they finish testing). The competition is open to all students. Students can prepare for participation by going to the Study Corner of the National Geographic Bee website for geography activity ideas and study tips.
We need an idea of how many students will be taking the exam. So if your child is interested, please have them sign-up here. The deadline to sign-up is Monday, January 20th.
Please note that when you sign-up, you will receive a confirmation and an email detailing your responses.
The top 10 scoring students will be in the Final Competition at Stoller on Thursday, January 30th from 4-5pm.
The Stoller School Champion will then take an online qualifying exam the week of February 2nd.
The State GeoBee will be held on March 27th, 2020.
The National Championship will be held May 17th - 21st in Washington, D.C.
